Founded in 1970, Continental Carpets has been installing high quality floor coverings across south east Queensland.



Our success can be contributed to our uncompromising dedication to quality and service. Unlike many of our more ‘youthful’ competitors, Continental Carpets places greater emphasis on ensuring the end user is 100% satisfied with their installation. 



We have always maintained that we do not simply sell our clients carpet, we sell them service, peace of mind, and a guarantee that their floor covering solution will meet their needs and expectations every time.



We also have the advantage of experience.



The family who founded Continental Carpets, and runs it today, was the family who invented the carpet tile. It was in a factory in Amersfoort, The Netherlands, that P.J. van Heugten first began manufacturing bitumen backed carpet tiles which could be loose-laid wall to wall.



It was the grandson of the inventor who established Continental Carpets in Brisbane and specialised in importing the new European carpet tiles into the emerging Brisbane Market.



To this day, we use our natural advantage in the market to deliver floor covering solutions to a wide variety of clients from international corporations to government departments, primary schools to universities. Our services cover all commercial projects from million-dollar boutique hotels on the Gold Coast to the small offices of local start-ups.



Our well-developed supplier network ensures that we can source just about any carpet tile, vinyl or rubber product that can be installed in a commercial project. We also have the capacity to sell factory seconds and end-of-project spares direct to the public for a fraction of our competitor’s cost.

Graham has been with Continental Carpets since 1979. During this period, Graham has developed an extensive client base which includes some of Australia’s most respected companies. As a part of his role, Graham ensures that the highest standards of craftsmanship are achieved and encourages the further training and upskilling of all employees.

With oversight over the administrative and organisational functions of the company, Harry ensures that our projects are delivered both efficiently and on-time to our clients. He makes certain that all projects are installed with full compliance to Australian Industry Standards and HSEQ regulations to maintain our Company’s reputation for quality and excellence.


Don Clifford

Commercial Sales

Coming from a background in the construction industry, Don knows exactly what our clients expect from a floor covering company. With a few industry awards under his belt, Don oversees our commercial estimating division by delivering highly competitive quotes to clients.


Michael Thannhauser

retail sales manager

Michael’s role encompasses managing retail sales from our showroom as well as handling stock control & logistics. Michael also manages our international product sourcing division in which he facilitates the importation process directly from several locations globally. Michael’s product knowledge is comprehensive, which stems from his time also spent working in factories in Europe & Australia. Michael has & continues to contribute extensively to our family business.

Mark Hanrahan​

In his role as a project manager, Mark is the driving force behind the successful completion of our projects. His extreme attention to detail and vast industry knowledge ensures the needs and expectations of our clientele are being exceeded for every project.



Terry Green


With more than a decade of experience of installing high-quality floor finishes, Terry now works directly with our clients to fulfill their floor covering needs. Drawing upon his wide network of contacts within the industry, Terry can deliver cost-effective projects with high-end finishes to our clients.
